July 2016: Yayo

Harlem's own Yayo is our feature for the month of July. Yayo's album $elf Incrimination is dropping on the 15th so it is only right we take the month of July to celebrate! We got a chance to chop it up with Yayo and let me tell you its only going up from here. I am so proud of you Gs! To see your progression and love for this shit is inspiring. What inspires you to create?

My life, my struggle, my pain and my joy. All my music is about me and things I've seen and done.

What artists are you currently listening to?

I'm listening to A boogie with the hoody, Hov, Future, Blac Youngsta and a bunch of other gangsta ni**as u may not know.

So we hear $elf Incrimination is dropping July 15th. Talk to us about the title.

I entitled it $elf incrimination because it is just that. I've done committed a lot crimes I'm not proud of it but it's part of my life. Things that ni**as had to do to get by and live life how we wanted to. I talk about it on this album. I felt like If they played this in court it would sound like I was telling on myself.

What's one piece of advice you would give to someone wanting to live out their dreams?

It ain't gonna come easy and it ain't gonna come over night. If u don't believe in yourself no one else will, so stay confident!
